The Oklila exploration permit, was part of the third phase of permits application by Stratex Djibouti in 2012. Stratex Djibouti was the joint venture between Stratex and Thani Ashanti, under which two phases of surface exploration were undertaken on the prospect. The permit was acquired by Thani Stratex Djibouti in 2014/2015.
Exploration activities within the permit area covered selective rock-chip and channel-chip sampling, geological mapping and stream sediment sampling supported by remote sensing imagery including high-resolution Quickbird imagery, Landsat and Aster.
The Pandora prospect includes a major low-sulphidation epithermal vein system, several meters thick and striking several kilometres, associated with a sub-vein system all-together extending across 6km. Part of the unmapped system is under recent lava cover and is believed to extend further. A first phase of diamond drilling is being prepared for Q4 2016.
