Egypt is the most populous country in the Middle East and the third most populous on the African continent after Nigeria and Ethiopia. The estimated population is 91 million with almost 95% of the population living along the banks of the Nile and the Nile Delta. The land area of Egypt is 1.01 million km2. Egypt boarders Libya to the West, Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast and Sudan to the South. Egypt has coastlines with the Mediterranean Sea in the North and the Red Sea in the East.

The Hodine concession is located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt inland of the Red Sea settlement of Shalateen. The concession comprises an area of ~1,190km2 and represents a reduced area that has undergone two mandatory 25% reductions from an original concession area of ~ 2,384km2. Shalateen is situated 230 km South of Marsa Alam, which is the location of the closest airport and can be accessed by the Red Sea Highway. The Hutite prospect is located 60 km northwest of Shalateen in the central region of the Hodine concession. Access is via a combination of paved road and dirt track.
